The Cape of Good Hope or originally known as the Cape of Storms.

Contrary to common belief, this cable is not the southernmost tip of the African continent, which is the Cape Agulhas. It is considered one of the great cables of the southern oceans, and had special meaning for sailors for many centuries.

It was first discovered in 1488 by Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias. The chronicles of the time tell that, as it was sighted after several days in which the sailors suffered violent storms (storms), that navigator called to him the cable of Storms. On his return, however, with the news, King John II of Portugal changed his name because, by being doubled, he showed the connection between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean and promised the much-desired arrival in India. He called it, therefore, the Cape of Good Hope.
